Description: Bayonet’s Hannah Lindgren and Andrew Quinn are mentoring a Greenwood Community High School student, Chris Remetta. He’s completing his senior capstone project this semester, which is writing and shooting a short film. As part of the film, they need to create a collage/mosaic self-portrait of the main character, so they are seeking a local artist to help with this.
Chris’ vision for “Receipts” is a high-school-based piece touching on the issue of conformity and the benefits of self-prioritization. The film follows the main character, James, who is looking back on memorabilia/receipts from his time with his group of friends, realizing that they aren’t actually his friends and that he doesn’t need to put up with their bullying behavior towards him and his best friend. As we see flashbacks of his time with his friends, and his tolerance for their behavior wane, they’ll intercut with him interacting with the physical “receipts” from those occasions. For example, a ticket stub, carnival wristband or actual receipt.
The last shot of the film, after he confronts his so-called friends, reveals that he has actually been creating a self-portrait on the floor of his bedroom with all of these items (and more items than just the ones he’s picked up!) See the attached image/image. (Although theirs would likely not be quite as distinctly multi-colored as this one.)
They are looking for a local artist who can help bring this vision to life. The artist would work with Chris to prepare his vision for the self-portrait/3D collage/mosaic, and also be there on set the day we film that scene to help it come to life.
