Brookside Community Play Seeks Artist Educator

   

Brookside Community Play is looking for an artist/educator (or group of) to facilitate art classes with elementary-age students twice a week on the Near Eastside.

Summary:  The Art Club Program Director will be responsible for the creation and development of the Brookside Community Play Art Club Program. This individual will lead a team of Coach-Mentors in teaching skill development to participants through activities and practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create an Arts Program curriculum for the Fall Play Session (8 weeks) that promotes skill development and results in a showcase
  • Prepare other volunteers for each week’s Art Club curriculum through user-friendly lesson plans and ongoing communication

Requirements

  • Must have a desire to work with children and youth
  • Must have a background in the arts (professional experience is preferred)
  • Must be a role model and set an example for our children
  • Be dependable and punctual

Time Commitment

  • Two days per week, 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM (days of the week will be determined based on your availability)
  • 8 Week Session (August 7th - September 28th, programming days are Monday - Thursday)
  • One-day showcase at the end of the Play Session to serve as a celebration of participants (most likely on a Saturday)

Compensation

This position is a volunteer position.
