October 5th, 2018 Third Annual IUYA Scholarship Banquet and Art Show

This year the Indiana Undocumented Youth Alliance (IUYA), a non-profit organization that aims to empower immigrants that want to achieve higher education, will celebrate the 2018-2019 IUYA scholarship recipients on Friday, October 5th, 2018 at University of Indianapolis’ Schwitzer Student Center 1400 Campus Dr, Indianapolis, IN, 46227 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Along with the annual banquet, IUYA will celebrate the unwavering resilience and unstoppable joy of undocumented people through art and will also host an Art Show preview beginning at 5:00 p.m that day. The art show will continue to be open to the public throughout the month of October at Hoy Polloy Art Gallery 2121 E. 10th St, Indianapolis, IN, 46201.

IUYA is seeking Hoosier artists, undocumented or documented, to submit artwork (existing or proposed) for the Unwavering Resilience, Unstoppable Joy: Celebrating Undocumented People Art Show. Recently, there has been much negativity directed towards the undocumented community and IUYA believes it is very important to address these issues. Whether it be through hostile legislation, city council policies or raids in our communities, undocumented people constantly deal with hardship. Despite this negativity, the undocumented community has proven to have an unwavering resilience and unstoppable joy in the face of adversity. Through art, artists will be able to celebrate undocumented folks and their will to keep moving forward to build better futures for themselves and their loved ones.
