CICF Seeks Theatre Operations Manager for Theater on the Square

Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) invites the submission of proposals for an experienced Theatre Operations Manager for 627 Massachusetts Ave.

For nearly 30 years, Theatre on the Square has operated as a performing arts organization in Indianapolis and since 1993 served as an important performing arts hub at 627 Massachusetts Avenue in the vibrant Massachusetts Avenue cultural district.  Costly building repairs and recent leadership transitions at Theatre on the Square have created an opportunity to re-imagine this venue while maintaining its purpose of being dedicated to the performing arts. It is with this commitment to supporting the arts community that the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) worked in partnership with Theatre on the Square to come to a mutual agreement regarding a new future reuse for the 627 Massachusetts Avenue building.

CICF and its affiliate, The Indianapolis Foundation, have a history of making significant investments in the arts, talent attraction and retention and ensuring the vibrancy of neighborhoods and cultural districts.  CICF’s long-term goal is that the Massachusetts Ave building will continue as a high quality, sustainable, arts venue that engages a broad sector of our community and helps further maintain Mass Ave as a vibrant cultural and theatre district.

On November 1, 2017 CICF assumed ownership of the building at 627 Massachusetts Ave. CICF intends to serve in an intermediary capacity and provide visioning direction and oversight of the building. To accomplish this CICF has established a not-for-profit supporting organization governed by a new not-for-profit board appointed by CICF.  The new not-for-profit board will be responsible for identifying a qualified Theatre Operations Manager and also explore strategies that ensures the long-term viability of the building as a venue for the performing arts in the Mass Ave Cultural District.
