City of Bloomington Seeks Assistant Director for the Arts

The City of Bloomington Seeks an Assistant Director for the Arts who:

Directs all aspects of the planning and development of the Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) and manages its website; supports the Bloomington Arts Commission and the Bloomington Urban Enterprise Association for the Zone Arts Grant; and provides operational oversight of the Buskirk Chumley Theater and the John Waldron Arts Center as per agreement. Recommends and/or promotes cultural projects and programs and those that are specifically focused on sustainable development. Manages projects and events, which includes negotiating agreements with artists and/or organizations; assisting organizations with acquiring noise waivers and/or use of public right-of-way for events when necessary; and maintaining appropriate documentation related to projects and events. Prepares and administers program budgets, and makes recommendations to the Director on budgeting needs as they relate to personnel, equipment, and materials. Attends, presents, and makes recommendations at City Council meetings, Board of Public Works meetings, and other public meetings. Participates in policy development, planning, problem solving, and other tasks to advance the goals and initiatives of the department.
