Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show Seeks Artists

Held in celebration of America Recycles Day, the seventeenth annual Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show will take place on Saturday, November 11 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., EST, at The Commons, a civic space in downtown Columbus, Indiana.

Event organizers are looking for professional artists to apply. The show will feature no more than 60 artists and crafts persons who use scrap materials or repurpose items to create their art and fine crafts. In addition, a few who work with natural or sustainable materials such as clay or gourds will be selected to participate in this juried show.

At first it may seem that your art won’t qualify, but if you think green, you’ll be surprised at how it stretches one’s creativity. An outstanding example is work created by one artist who repurposes leather coats from thrift stores to make beautiful, supple handbags. Also, many woodworkers in this show use wood from fallen trees to create gorgeous boxes and trays.

The media or type of work shown in the past includes assemblage, glass art, home décor, jewelry, metal sculpture, mixed media, mosaic, papier-mâché, wearable art, weaving, and wood arts. Déjà Vu has become the premier event of its type in the region.

One person will be selected to appear as the event’s Featured Artist. They will receive a free booth space, a complimentary stay on Friday, November 10th at the Hotel Indigo in downtown Columbus, mention in all publicity, and a photo of their work featured on posters, post cards, and other print advertising.

The deadline for entering is June 28. For full details and to see photos taken at events held in the past, visit the show’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DejaVuArtAndFineCraftShow.
