Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show Seeks Artist Vendors

The fourteenth, annual Déjà Vu Art and Fine Craft Show will be held on Saturday, November 10 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., EST, at The Commons, a civic space in downtown Columbus, Indiana. Featuring professional artists who reuse and/or recycle items, and a few who create their work from natural or sustainable materials, no more than sixty applicants will be accepted.

Deadline for entry: June 16th

Again, this year they’re looking for an artist or someone who works in fine crafts to appear as their Featured Artist. The person who is selected will receive a free booth space, a complimentary stay on Friday, November 9th at the Hotel Indigo in downtown Columbus, mention in all publicity, and a photo of his or her work featured on our poster and post cards. Candidates will be considered based on the following criteria:

  • Good reuse or recycling of materials. At least some of the materials used must be repurposed and/or recycled.
  • Creative approach to reusing and/or recycling materials.
  • Unique and particularly remarkable body of work.
  • Excellent craftsmanship.
  • Interesting and professional presentation of work, as a whole.

If you'd like to be considered as the Featured Artist, along with your application and photos, include a detailed description of your art or fine craft, and any other materials that support your request. Items such as copies of newspaper or magazine clippings, and mention of professional affiliations, awards and honors will be helpful.

For the past two years, they’ve challenged artists to create a piece of art or fine craft that demonstrated a specific theme. Last year’s winner, Dodie Wrocklage-Harp won the Artists’ Challenge, and she was awarded $100 for her work. They’ll offer the challenge again, and the theme will be announced later.

They’re pleased to be able to recognize more artists for their outstanding work, so in addition to the Artists’ Challenge prize, they’ll give monetary awards and ribbons for the Best of Show, First, Second, and Third Places, and four artists will be named Honorable Mention winners. The judging criteria will be the same as those used to select the Featured Artist.
