The Evansville-Vanderburgh Levee Authority is seeking an artist or team of artists to create a sculpture that commemorates the 1937 flood, and the subsequent levee project. The Authority envisions a durable, visible art piece. While all proposals will be considered, the Authority feels a working fountain/moving water piece would best convey the intent of the project and space. The site of the chosen sculpture will be in front of the new Evansville-Vanderburgh Levee Authority building, located at 220 South Fulton Ave., just south of the Lloyd Expressway.
Note: this is a Request for Proposals. Artists are asked to create a design without compensation as part of the application process. Artists should decide for themselves whether this is acceptable for their working method.
Budget
The budget for this artwork will be $10,000. The artist is expected to budget all costs associated with the development and installation of the artwork. This includes supplies, shipping, travel, lodging, equipment, etc. Supplies specific to the artist’s technique or process should be included in artist’s budget, as well as any foundation the art piece will need to be placed on.
