Figures of Speech Exhibition Seeks Entries

FIGURES OF SPEECH Exhibition - July 26 - September 20, 2020

All artists in the Midwest are invited to enter the Anderson Museum of Art’s 9th annual FIGURES OF SPEECH competitive exhibition.

This is your opportunity to turn classic figures of speech into memorable and interesting works of art. Below are just a few examples:

Alliteration: “She sells seashells”
Euphemisms: “A little thin on the top”
Hyperboles: “I’ve told you a hundred times” or “It cost a billion dollars” Metaphors: “Heart of stone” or “The world is a stage”
Oxymoron: “Jumbo shrimp” or “Small crowd”
Simile: “Like peas in a pod” or “As wise as an owl”

CALENDAR
Digital entries accepted no later than............................... June 30th

Notification of acceptance on or before................................ July 7th

Accepted entries due no later than.................... July 17th by 5 pm

*Artist’s Reception & Awards Presentation........................... July 26th

Picking Up Entries............................................................ Sept. 22nd - 26th *How this will look will depend on the circumstances.

They are definitely going to look at a live online version as a possibility.

Any entry not picked up by Oct. 10th will become the property of AMOA and may be disposed of at its discretion.
