Gallery 924 Seeks Artwork for Annual TINY Exhibition

TINY VII: 2018

Gallery 924 is seeking submissions (existing or proposed) from central Indiana artists for the seventh annual holiday group show: TINY VII. The goal is to feature as many artists as possible offering the widest array of options for holiday shoppers to start a tiny collection of art for themselves or as gifts.

There is no theme this year.  Artists working in all styles and media (2D, 3D, installation, etc.) are welcome  – the only similarity will be size. All work should be “tiny”….or no greater than six inches in any direction. (max. size is 6” x 6” x 6”, there is no minimum size). TINY should not be confused with a more traditional “miniatures” show. Artists who create miniature works are welcome to submit, but this show is more about the element of surprise, experiment, interaction, and whimsy! Artists have three options to submit:

  1. Existing Work: Submit up to 5 individual artworks OR up to 10 works from a series (a unified, cohesive, related body of work).
  2. Propose New Work: Submit works you intend on creating specifically for the TINY exhibition. You may submit a proposal for 5 individual artworks OR up to 10 works from a series (a unified, cohesive, related body of work).
  3. Create Site-Specific Work!: Come to Gallery 924, choose a location within the gallery and propose a site-specific piece for the show. Your location may be just about anywhere in the gallery – ceiling, floor, walls, brick, windows, etc. Gallery 924 is known for its unique architectural elements (e.g. wood beams, brick walls, large windows, etc.) If the work can be installed without permanently damaging the structure and only take up a 6” x 6” x 6” space, it is acceptable. If your proposal is accepted, we will do our best to ensure you can exhibit you work in the area you selected.

Selection Process

The group exhibition will be chosen by an internal selection committee and curated and installed by the Gallery 924 staff.  Work will be selected based on the quality of the work, how well it fits within the larger group show, and the relevance to the theme of the show: TINY.

Eligibility

  • All central Indiana artists over the age of 18 are welcome to submit. For these purposes, central Indiana is considered to be Marion and the seven surrounding counties.
  • Work must have been completed within the last three years.
  • If 2D, work must be framed (if appropriate), wired and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers.
  • Ideally the size of the work including the frame should fit within a 6” x 6” area.  But, if the artwork itself is 6” x 6” and must be framed, it is preferred the frame not exceed 8” x 8”.

When pricing your work for this particular show, keep in mind that the Arts Council and Gallery 924 will be promoting the show as a great place to buy unique, indypendent holiday gifts, so a price range at or below $100 would be most appropriate, but certainly not required.
