Position Summary

Position serves as primary arts administrator for the Garfield Park Arts Center (GPAC), manages all GPAC operations in the absence of the GPAC Manager and assists with the scheduling, implementation and evaluation of all GPAC programs, exhibits, special events and outreach.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manages all GPAC operations in the absence of the GPAC Manager.
  • Serves as primary arts administrator for the GPAC, including collecting, organizing and reporting information in a timely fashion to Indy Parks arts managers and other Indy Parks divisions as needed.
  • Ensures prompt payments to contracted Teaching Artists by following Finance administrative procedures.
  • Assists in the purchasing of supplies, materials and equipment for the GPAC.
  • Assists with the coordination of facility rentals and other special use.
  • Assists with the scheduling, implementation and evaluation of all GPAC programs, exhibits, special events and outreach.
  • Works with other GPAC staff to maintain a clean, engaging, safe and accessible facility.
  • Adheres to department policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years experience (or equivalent combination of education & experience) in Arts Administration, Recreation or related field. Ability to work productively under general supervision. Must be self-motivated, organized and dependable. Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills. This position requires extreme attention to detail and highly developed organizational skills. Must be customer service oriented. Licenses/Certifications required: Ability to obtain: CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate, Indiana Public Passengers Chauffeurs License, NYSCA Clinician Certification and Prefer CPRP (Certified Parks & Recreation Professional). Design experience and strong community involvement in the arts a plus.

Independent Judgment

Assistant Arts Center Manager is required to exercise occasional independent judgment. This position operates in an isolated condition and may be without direct on-site supervision. The Assistant Arts Center Manager is responsible for the daily operations of all activities when the GPAC Manager and Arts Senior Manager are not present. Requires direct regular interaction with the community, public officials and various city, state and local officials, in an independent atmosphere. Requires monitoring of all on site activities for compliance with agency policy as well as local and state laws. Will occasionally interact with other divisions, departments and agencies to maintain adequate resources and services on site.
