POSITION SUMMARY:

Position is responsible for management of programs, services, facilities and personnel at Garfield Arts Center. Work related activities may incorporate all facets of Arts Services, Programs, Events and Activities in various physical environments.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Designs and implements Arts Programs in the core service areas of literature, production, theater, dance, music and visual arts.

Develops and manages all fiscal resources, grants, sponsorships, contracts and partnerships for the Arts Center.

Oversees and coordinates a volunteer Arts Center advisory council.

Manages the training and professional development of personnel of the Arts Center.

Supervises Arts Center staff, volunteers, partnerships and contracted instructors.

Assesses the needs of the community, plans, designs, implements, and evaluates programs and services for the Arts Center.

Identifies budgetary needs of the Arts Center.

Projects, monitors and adjusts spending and revenue to best meet the goals and performance measurements of the Arts Center.

Oversees the ordering and purchasing of supplies, materials and equipment for the Arts Center.

Monitors, evaluates and recommends improvements, repairs, or changes to the resources of the Arts Center to best meet the needs of the community.

Adheres to resource management criteria of the department in the management of the Arts Center.

Coordinates the training and monitoring of adherence to department policy and procedure at the Arts Center.

Recruits volunteer Arts Center advisory council members to represent the community and neighborhood groups.

Manages the customer service relations at the Arts Center, including all forms of communication with the public, marketing of programs and service.

Processes customer inquires and complaints, training and monitoring Arts Center staff related to customer service skills.

Assist the Arts Services Section with internal and external arts related events and committees.

Responsible for proper collection and depositing of revenues.

Responsible for on-site contract compliance monitoring.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of managerial experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in Arts, Recreation or related field. Ability to learn computer applications for purchasing, budgeting, program registration and facility reservations. Ability to work productively under general supervision. General ability to utilize a personal computer for word processing, e-mail, scheduling, database and spreadsheet production. Must be self-motivated. Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills. Must be customer service oriented. Licenses/Certifications required: Ability to obtain: CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate, Indiana Public Passengers Chauffeurs License.

INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:

Arts Center Manager is required to exercise considerable independent judgment. This position operates in and isolated condition without direct on-site supervision. The Arts Center Manager is responsible for the daily operations of all activities at the Arts Center. Requires direct regular interaction with the community, public officials and various city, state and local officials in an independent atmosphere. The Arts Manager may be instructed to communicate directly with the media and represent the department through media or at public meetings/events. Requires monitoring of all on-site activities for compliance with agency policy as well as local and state laws. Must interact regularly with other divisions, departments and agencies to maintain adequate resources and services on site.
