Collections Assistant
The Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (iMOCA) is hiring for the position of Collections Assistant. Under the guidance of the Collections Manager, ensuring the safety, preservation, maintenance, and documentation for works in a collection.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include preventive care, examination, technical analysis, documentation, treatment following and implementing accepted museum professional standards and practices.
- Monthly examination and monitoring ensuring the security and safety of objects
- Routine cleaning and maintenance of a variety of materials, mediums and
technologies
- Researching, preparing and updating examination, condition and maintenance
reports with the condition of artifacts, treatment options, and the methods of
preservation
- Oversee monitoring of environmental conditions, including RH & temperature
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Performing general physical activities and the ability to lift 25 pounds
- 7 to 10 hours a month
- Access to a computer

Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in art, art history, museum studies or closely
associated area
- Two years or more of related experience
