Job Responsibilities: The Performing Arts Academy Education Specialist reports directly to the VP of Advancement and Programs and will be responsible for ensuring that PAA students are utilizing all available resources to improve their academic and or economic outcomes. The Education Specialist will ensure that each PAA student is assessed and completes an individualized plan and that strategies are implemented to ensure the following outcomes for each student are met:

  • Outcome: 90% of youth will graduate from high school.
  • Interim Measure: 90% of youth will complete a graduation plan (as measured by the graduation plan).
  • Interim Measure: High school youth will stay on track to graduate from high school via 10 credits earned each calendar school year (as measured by report cards or academic records).
  • Interim Measure: Following enrollment in the program for at least one year, youth with a GPA below 2.3 will increase their GPA by 10%.
  • Interim Measure: 80% of youth will participate in at least one other IBE program and one program offered by one of IBE’s partners (as measured by IBE and its partners’ attendance records).
  • Interim Measure: 70% of youth will take the PSAT or equivalent test by the end of their junior
  • Interim Measure: 80% of seniors that are eligible to graduate during their senior year will take the SAT, ACT or equivalent
  • Interim Measure: At least 80% of eligible 7th and 8th graders will apply for the 21st Century Scholars
  • Interim Measure: 90% of youth that are 21st Century Scholars and desire to attend an eligible school in Indiana will create a graduation plan, take a career interests assessment, visit a college campus and submit their college application prior to high school
  • Outcome: 90% of youth will increase their understanding of the technical aspects of either filmmaking and video production, social media, graphics design, communications, photography, music production, acting or dance (as measured by pre/posttests and end of program assessments).
  • Outcome: Graduating seniors will either attend a post-secondary institution or enter the workforce earning a high-demand wage (as measured by college transcript or employment records).

Minimum Qualifications: Applicant must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in education, counseling or a related field with a minimum of two years’ experience in education, counseling or related field, or a combination of equivalent experience and training.

Job Description: Applicant must be flexible and have experience in working in a fast-paced team environment. Good verbal communication, writing skills and proper telephone and email etiquette are imperative. The successful applicant must have a strong commitment to the organization and possess skills that include typing 50 wpm and hands-on experience with personal computers and specific types of software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and be able to use mail merge. Must be able to effectively use standard office equipment including a multi-line telephone, copier and fax machine. Must be proactive, able to work well under pressure, willing to work some nontraditional hours and weekends and travel on occasion. The candidate must also be energetic, with the ability to track multiple projects.
