Indianapolis Artsgarden seeks artist(s) for April Exhibition featuring Poetry and/or Literary Arts

Deadline: March 9, 2018, 5 p.m.
Exhibition Dates: April 5 – 27, 2018

The Indianapolis Artsgarden is seeking a featured visual artist (or artists) for the month of April 2018 whose work is influenced by poetry and/or the literary arts to coincide with National Poetry Month. The artwork does not need to contain text or poetry, but must demonstrate a clear connection to the theme. This exhibition is in conjunction with weekly poetry readings and other events at the Artsgarden.

  • 2D work should be no larger than 40 inches in either direction and 3D work should be no larger than 28 inches in any direction. All 2D work must be wired. No saw tooth hangers are permitted. Work is hung from “S” hooks onto a grid system within locking cases.
  • The Artsgarden is a public venue, therefore artwork must be appropriate for all people and ages.
  • All central Indiana artists over the age of 18 are welcome to submit. For these purposes, central Indiana is considered Marion and the seven surrounding counties.

To submit, e-mail the following to koberreich@indyarts.org by Friday, March 9 at 5 pm:

  • Up to 5 (five) images
    • Images should be 72dpi and around 800 pixels in any direction or of a filesize less than 1MB each. (Images used for CAFÉ, SLIDEROOM or other submission sites are acceptable)
  • Image list in the body of the e-mail (not in a separate document) including title,
    date, medium, dimensions* and price**. The Artsgarden does not take a commission on sales
  • Artist contact information including name, e-mail, website (if applicable), and phone.
  • A brief statement about the work submitted.

About the Indianapolis Artsgarden:

Owned and operated by the Arts Council of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Artsgarden is a destination for arts and culture in the heart of downtown. The structure is a seven-story tall glass and steel icon over the intersection of Washington and Illinois Streets. The Artsgarden presents more than 250 free and public performances each year, along with monthly visual arts exhibitions by central Indiana artists. It is also rented for private events, including weddings, corporate receptions, and nonprofit events, which support funding for public arts programming.
