SPECIFICATIONS: Part-time, hourly position, 20 hours/week Mondays through Fridays, with a flexible schedule in the mornings and afternoons. Free downtown parking available. Option of hybrid work schedule.

ABOUT INDIANAPOLIS BALLET: Indianapolis Ballet (IB) and Indianapolis School of Ballet (ISB) are Indiana’s premier destination for professional dance and dance instruction, located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. While Indianapolis School of Ballet opened in 2006, the professional company, Indianapolis Ballet, launched in 2018. With this, a professional resident ballet company returned to the Circle City for the first time in over a decade. POSITION SUMMARY: Indianapolis Ballet is seeking an individual with a passion for the arts and the organizational skills needed to assist managing marketing and communications for a growing nonprofit. Reporting to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, this position requires exceptional time management and excellent communication, verbal, and writing skills in English. Knowledge of classical ballet is encouraged, but not required.


Marketing & Communications

  • Reports directly to the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager
  • Assists in maintaining, sustaining, and strengthening the Indianapolis Ballet, Inc. organizational brand
  • Supports Senior Marketing & Communications Manager in concept and design work of performance key art, programs, advertisements for print and digital media, and print marketing materials such as posters, rack cards, direct mail and informational pieces, banners, and more
  • Creates and executes content for social media based off a social media content calendar for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok
  • Manages and updates website,
  • Assists the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager in managing and creating content for outsourced projects with various businesses and organizations throughout the season like En Face Magazine, Radio One, Simon Malls, and more
  • Manages the aspects of Indianapolis Ballet merchandise and online store


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 2-3 years of relevant professional work experience in marketing & communications or graphic design
  • Passion for the arts and Indy Ballet’s mission
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills in English
  • Functional knowledge of GSuite (including Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive) and Microsoft Office Suite (including Word and Excel)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (including InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop)
  • Knowledge of social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Youtube, and LinkedIn)
  • Experience in collecting, creating, and editing video content for digital media, advertisements, and promotions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously


  • Knowledge of Squarespace preferred, but not required
  • Flexibility, professionalism, accountability, and ability to work with a culturally diverse population in a collaborative manner

CONTENT OF CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION: Must maintain confidentiality regarding HR meetings, programming and marketing plans, organizational financial information, staff and student biographical information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time to conduct daily business operations. Position also requires the hearing and visual acuity to converse with internal and external constituents in person, over the phone, and via electronic communication with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 20 pounds when necessary.

SUPERVISION: Reports to the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, but must have the ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and make sound decisions in the best interest of the organization.
