Mural Project RFQ – Indianapolis Downtown Doggie

Deadline: Sunday, April 23, 2023 - 11:59pm

Total Project Budget: $3000-5000

Budget Description:
Up to three finalists will be selected to develop concept proposals for this project. Each finalist will be paid a $300 stipend for their proposal. The selected artist will be paid $3000 for the commissioned work. Artist will be responsible for own travel costs, materials, personal liability insurance and any additional expenses associated with the painting of the murals onsite.

Project Details:
Downtown Doggie (DTD) is seeking qualifications from artists or collaborative teams for the commission of three murals for its daycare and training facilities. Selected finalists will be provided details on site locations and guiding themes for concept proposals. For the RFQ, artists will be considered based on their overall style and previous mural experience.

Indy DTD is committed to engaging diverse communities. Artists who identify with a historically marginalized culture are strongly encouraged to apply.

About Downtown Doggie:
Indianapolis Downtown Doggie (Indy DTD) is a premiere one-stop pet care facility. In 2015 they opened a 10,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art facility equipped with indoor/outdoor play areas and dog park access. Located just east of downtown, in addition to canine daycare services, Indy DTD offers obedience training, overnight lodging, and onsite grooming.

ANTICIPATED PROJECT TIMELINE:

  • Deadline for qualifications submissions: April 23
  • Notification of finalists: by May 19
  • Concept proposals due: June 16
  • Final artist selection: by June 30
  • Installation of the artwork will be scheduled between Indy DTD with the selected artist. Murals should be completed by August 31. Indy DTD will be responsible for mural site preparation. When submitting your RFQ, please consider if you can work within this timeframe. Selected finalists may be invited to present their proposals to the selection committee.

Selection Information:
Consultant Paula Katz will review the qualifications of applicant artists and make recommendations to Indy DTD. Selection of artists will be based on the following criteria: Artistic compatibility as demonstrated in submitted artwork; Experience working on large-scale public projects; Willingness to meet all contractual guidelines; The ability to use content guidelines (provided to finalists for concept proposals).

Submit a digital portfolio consisting of the following items:

___ Cover letter or artist statement, clearly articulating fit and interest in this project.

___ Resume.

___ Up to 10 jpg images of previous artwork (file size should not exceed 1MB per image).

___ Two professional references.
