Indianapolis Youth Poet Laureate Program Seeks Applications

In partnership with the National Youth Poet Laureate program (Yes--like Amanda Gorman and #TheHillWeClimb), VOICES is launching their 2021 Indianapolis Youth Poet Laureate application season to select the next poet who represents the best of the community's literary excellence and civic leadership.

Their exceptionally talented, activist-poet friend and collaborator Tatjana Rebelle will be one of the YPL judges this year, and is partnering with them via their work with Earth Charter Indiana to celebrate Indiana Earth Charter's 20th Anniversary and this year's Indy YPL advocacy issue: CLIMATE CHANGE

Any youth 13-19 years old who live in the state of Indiana may apply to become our next YPL.

To Apply, youth must send 5 poems, including 1 about climate change, as well as their resume/CV with their academic and leadership achievements and extra-curricular involvement to IndyYPL@gmail.com by midnight Tuesday, August 31st.

If you have any questions, would like to nominate a potential YPL, or have youth or adult contacts you'd like to spread word about YPL to, please email our Director of Indy YPL at: Lauren.Marie.Hall44@gmail.com or text/call her at (317) 908-3617.

Note: In addition to earning the title of Indianapolis’ 2019 Youth Poet Laureate, the winner will have their poems published in the National YPL anthology and will be featured on the National YPL website with a picture and poem. They will also have the opportunity to compete to become the National Youth Poet Laureate.
