Irvington Halloween Festival Seeks Experience-Based Donations for Art and Silent Auction

Did you know the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival is the longest-running Halloween festival in the United States, including a weeklong schedule of events, and is the fastest-growing street festival in central Indiana?  Irvington itself has a long tradition of being a welcoming place for artists to live and work.

One of the festival’s most popular traditions is the annual Art and Silent Auction. This year’s auction will be held October 23rd, 2017 at 7pm. The location will be at Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Avenue, in Indianapolis. This fun-filled evening brings together artists and artisans in a display of wares and talents and offers a silent auction of items aimed at creating excitement among guests who participate in a friendly bidding war. The evening tops off with the most sought-after items auctioned off live by a jovial and engaging auctioneer.

They understand donating original artwork does not always work best for artists so they would appreciate any and all offers of experiences as well. Please consider donating instruction, either private, class based or event based.

The function of the festival, which draws anywhere from 35,000 to 56,000 people in any given year, is to bring families together for a wonderful week of fun-filled events, many of which are free to the public, including the street fair. Your donation helps the Historic Irvington Community Council maintain the festival. Any contribution of merchandise, goods, services, gift certificates, or artwork will be much appreciated. The funds received from these auctioned items always go directly back into the Irvington community, with the primary focus on the Halloween festival itself.

Your donation can be picked up by a volunteer or you may deliver it yourself. Contact Manuel Aguilar for a mailing address or drop-off location at manuel-a@att.net or call 317-946-7436. If you need further information, you can also visit the festival’s website at www.irvingtonhalloween.com
