IUPUI Social Justice Education Seeks Volunteer Actors for Tunnel of Oppression Event

IUPUI Social Justice Education is seeking volunteer actors and tech managers for our largest annual event, Tunnel of Oppression.

Are you an individual interested in getting acting experience, supporting advocacy work on campus or are in need of volunteer hours to fulfill requirements?
We offer flexible schedule times as each individual can choose their times through the registration form below!

Tunnel of Oppression at IUPUI is an experiential learning opportunity that uses storytelling, theater, art and videography to help others understand the ways in which individuals with different backgrounds, cultures, and identities are affected by the power imbalance present in most social, political and cultural situations. Unlike many diversity programs, Tunnel at IUPUI highlights current social issues through the experiences of marginalized students by empowering them to create and share their personal stories. Participants are guided through a series of acting scenes that aim to educate and challenge them to think critically about issues of oppression.

Volunteer shifts will occur between the following times:
November 5 & 7: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
November 6 & 8: 11:30 PM - 7:30 PM

All actors will be required to attend 1 Actor Call Out and 2 scene rehearsal.

The next Actor Call Out Meeting is Oct. 4 from 5:30- 7:30 PM in UC 101. This is a great way to meet other actors, learn about the different scenes and work with their awesome community partners Sapphire Theatre Company, who can help individuals learn about theater basics if you have no prior experience or hone your skill throughout the Tunnel process.
