PlySpace, a new artist-in-residence program produced by the Muncie Arts and Culture Council in Muncie, Indiana, is pleased to announce its inaugural call for applications for the Summer 2018 residency term.

The PlySpace residency program invites applications from emerging and established practitioners and small collaboratives working in areas including but not limited to painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, glass, metals, ceramics, performance, photography, video/film, time-based media, writing, poetry, theatre, non-object based practice, and social practice. Three residents will be selected for the Summer term, with flexible residency dates between mid-May and mid-August. All residents will receive lodging, studio space, and a travel stipend. Residents selected to participate as a PlySpace Resident Fellow will work with Ball State University School of Art and receive additional funding for project and living expenses.

In addition to providing residents with dedicated time and space to investigate and pursue their own practice, PlySpace serves as a platform to connect visiting residents with local organizations.  in order to facilitate collaborative projects that benefit the citizens of Muncie, as well as the program residents. Each applicant will propose a personal project as the primary focus of their residency as well as a project to be completed in partnership with a community collaborator. PlySpace will assist each resident in refining their proposed collaboration and connect them with an appropriate community organization.

Interested applicants should visit the program website at www.plyspace.org to learn more about the application guidelines, residency structure, and community collaboration requirements. Applications are due by March 15th, 2018, and must be submitted online through the website with a $25 non-refundable application fee. Questions or comments about the program and application process can be directed to Erin Williams at hello@plyspace.org. Admission preference will be given to applicants who reside outside of the Muncie, Indiana area.

PlySpace will hold an open call for applications three times a year for the Summer, Fall, and Spring terms respectively.
