Position Summary
High Frequency Arts is seeking a Chief Gallery Operator “CGO” for our Fishers, Indiana location opening Fall 2018 in the Downtown Nickel Plate District.   The ideal candidate must be a proven Rockstar talent that has a passion for contemporary art, ready to make a change and brings to the table the desired experience and work ethic necessary to succeed.   As the CGO it is also important that they have a broad-based network – inclusive of artists, designers, collectors and potential clients. The CGO is the master organizer, our gallery promoter, floor sales rep, event planner & host. `

Essential Job Responsibilities
Logistics

  • Coordinating events and exhibits in collaboration with the HFA owner & lead curator
  • Managing customs, transport and shipping of artwork
  • Identifying and partnering with frame shops for gallery and client needs
  • Oversite of the installation of exhibits & event planning including opening nights, art fairs, private viewings and private events
  • Retail gallery inventory procurement, inventory management, merchandising and sales
  • Assisting with art consulting practice projects and logistics as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Communication, Marketing & Sales

  • Partnering with the owner establishing and developing the HFA artist network and affiliates
  • Managing agreements and contracts with artist and their affiliates
  • Building and managing the HFA database of contacts (clients, collectors, prospects and artist)
  • Creating HFA invitations and promotional materials for the exhibitions
  • Managing the gallery social media and promotions with marketing partners
  • Partnering with owner organizing tuning up podcast, blogs and interviews
  • Organizing press kits for art exhibits and gallery events
  • Managing daily communication with visitors, distributors, artist, suppliers and buyers
  • Problem solve, consult, pipeline build & sell art & HFA portfolios of services
  • Maintaining an archive and dossier of events and art sales
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Management, Art Education, Art History or Interior Design preferred
  • Art Gallery, interior design or cultural institutional experience
  • Retail management, sales or merchandising experience-art, fashion, boutique, collectables preferred
  • You are a natural host and event planner- planning, promotion & project management experience
  • A trendsetter-well versed in contemporary art and cultural trends
  • Must demonstrate a high level of ownership, accountability and initiative in your work
  • Outstanding communication skills (written, oral, and listening)
  • High level of time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated personal & financial stewardship, care, conservancy, planning, attention, upkeep, and management of financial resources
  • Professional, service oriented and comfortable when engaging and building relationships with the public, artist and client base
  • Tech Savvy-proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products -Excel, Microsoft Word and/or Google Office suite products
  • Be Passionate, entrepreneurial and dedicated to success
  • Must be willing, reliable and available to work weekdays, rotating evenings hours and weekends (Saturday) because that’s when the action happens
