Possible sites for the artwork include both exterior and interior locations.

Shore Acres is a neighborhood that was developed through dredging parts of Tampa Bay in the 1950s and 1960s. It is at the forefront of sea level rise in the city of St. Petersburg. It consists mostly of single family detached homes. In the heart of the neighborhood is Shore Acres Recreation Center situated within Shore Acres. The center was originally an established club house and pool and was purchased in 1970 from the local homeowners group. The site design includes all the components of the city’s typical recreation centers. This includes: a six-lane swimming pool with a diving well, 107 automobile parking spaces, 18 bicycle parking spaces, a forever lawn covered playground, an exterior concrete playcourt for basketball, a grass multi-purpose lawn, and covered activity areas. The interior of the recreation center includes a full gymnasium along with 3 multi-purpose program rooms and support spaces such as a kitchen and a teen room.

The goal of the project is to create art which conveys the sense of community, culture, heritage, history, and positive impact of the recreation center and enhances the visibility of the Complex while encouraging visitation.
