reVISION Seeks Artists for Tactile Exhibition

Visually Impaired Preschool Services (VIPS) would like to extend an invitation for artists to participate in reVISION, a tactile art exhibition.  It is their fourth year hosting the exhibition and they are confident that with your talent—it will be their most successful year yet!  Proceeds from the event benefit the education and early intervention of infants and toddlers with blindness/low vision.  Since 2011, VIPS has been providing this critical service for children, birth to three, throughout Indiana.  With your participation and artwork contribution, this year’s exhibition will help them to continue to serve these children in need of their specialized services.

reVISION will be an exhibition of works by artists who explore the world of art through the eyes of the visually impaired and re-examines the traditional gallery presentation as a tactile, auditory and spatial experience.  Creating work specifically for this show, sculptors, textile artists, painters and new-media artists will be encouraged to challenge both themselves and visitors to re-imagine the boundaries of art the way one experiences it.

reVISION will be held at the Indiana Interchurch Center Art Gallery in March and April 2019.  The opening night is scheduled for Friday, March 8, 2019.

The intention of reVISION goes beyond a traditional art exhibition.  It is to give those with vision loss a chance to experience art at their own leisure and in their own way.  reVISION will also challenge those who have their sight to experience the art through other sensory channels.  This exhibition has an opportunity to create awareness, spark a dialogue, expose your work to different groups of patrons, and hopefully raise money for the children we serve.

They are aware that artists in the community are asked to provide work and talent numerous times during the year for many worthy causes; however, they ask that you give special consideration to participating in reVISION.  They respectfully request a 50% commission of the final sale price of your work if it is to sell.

If you are interested in participating in reVISION, please respond to VIPS by February 22nd, 2019.
