Request for Proposals (RFP) for Second Presbyterian Church Centerpiece Painting in Church Gathering Space

Proposal Submission Deadline: Wednesday, February 22, 2023, 5 p.m.

The Project
Second Presbyterian Church Fine Arts Advisory Team seeks proposals from artists to create a site-specific original artwork/painting as a centerpiece of a newly redecorated gathering space within the church.

Information about Second Presbyterian and the Space
A congregation of Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Second Presbyterian Church has a long- standing tradition of helping others. This emphasis was fostered by the church's founding minister, Henry Ward Beecher, a leading thinker and activist in the 1800s. Today the church supports missions at home and abroad with their time, talents, and treasures. They welcome each person’s individual gifts and talents as an opportunity to share God’s love and grace with others in need. The space, formerly called Church Parlor, will continue to serve as an intimate, yet welcoming place for families and friends to gather with pastoral staff before and after baptisms, weddings, funerals, and other services.

To give artists sufficient information about the project, and therefore be in a positive position to submit a proposal, the church will offer opportunities by appointment to meet with the decorator and see the space. Appointment times are available between Monday, Feb. 6th and Wednesday, Feb. 15th. To make an appointment, contact Carolyn Dederer at carolyndederer@gmail.com or text 317-372-5122.
