June 11 - 15, 2018
Have a passion for social justice? High school students interested in writing and developing community-based solutions to social justice issues can register now for Marian University’s June 11-15 Social Action Writing Camp in Indianapolis.
Sponsored by the Marian University Writing Center and the Hoosier Writing Project, this summer camp is intended for high school students in grades 9-12.

Participants will take a deep dive into social justice issues like affordable housing, racial and gender inequality, food insecurity, environmental justice, community safety, access to quality educational programs, and related local and national challenges.

Collaborate with community advocates and scholars to build your writing skills while serving as an advocate for tackling tough issues locally. You’ll combine your creative writing and journalism skills with research to explore critical perspectives on social justice issues. You’ll produce both narrative and argumentative writings.

Upon conclusion of the camp, you’ll be encouraged to present and publish your work to Indianapolis political, cultural, civic, and business leaders during a community celebration.
