SullivanMunce Cultural Center Announces 40th Edition
First Come, First Hung
CALL FOR ENTRIES
The exhibition is exactly what the name implies: the first 40 artists through our doors at 225 West Hawthorne Street in Zionsville, IN on Saturday, January 8, 2022 between the hours of 10 am and Noon will automatically be accepted into this popular exhibit that allows both the amateur and the professional artist the opportunity to showcase their talent in our galleries January 14, 2022 through February 25, 2022.
SUBMISSION RULES
• ENTRY DATE: SATURDAY, January 8, 2022, 10 AM – NOON
• FREE for Members /$15 for Adult Non-Members
• FREE for artists ages 17 and under
• All types, styles and mediums are accepted – oil, watercolors, photography, sculpture, graphics, ceramics, stitchery, textiles, quilts, hand painted decorative items, etc.
• All work must be original.
• Work may be submitted by an artist representative.
• Only one submission per artist will be accepted.
• The largest size piece we can accept is 4’ wide x 5’ high.
• All 2D artwork must be framed (with the exception of gallery wrapped canvas), wired and ready to hang. No exceptions.
• All works may be made available for sale. When pricing, please be aware that the artist receives 70% of the sale. Sold pieces must remain on display through the conclusion of the exhibit.
• Artists are asked to pick up their work Tuesday, March 1, 2022, or Wednesday, March 2, 2022, between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM unless other arrangements are made with the SullivanMunce Cultural Center.
AWARDSEdie Kellar Mahaney Creative Award of Merit ($100) The Edie Kellar Mahaney Creative Award of Merit will gift $100 to an artist of the First Come First Hung exhibition (can be youth or adult) who exhibits a unique originality and a colorful, creative expression that instills joy. This special award honors the spirit of artist Edie Kellar Mahaney (1930-2017), the founding director of the Munce Art Center in 1981 and the abstract expressionist painter whose canvases expressed pure joy.
This award will be chosen by Edie’s daughter (Lolly Mahaney) and/or her son (Jackson Mahaney) each year before the opening date of the First Come, First Hung exhibition. If neither can arrange to choose the award due to scheduling, the executive director of the SMCC will be appointed to select the award.
People’s Choice Awards ($50 adult, $50 youth categories) are presented by SullivanMunce Cultural Center
