Call for Artists

T-Shirt Design Contest

Cat Head Press is seeking an artist to create a t-shirt design. The design will be printed live, during Cat Head Press’s grand opening event on June 18th . Cat Head Press will be located in the heart of the Englewood Neighborhood and the Near East Side Great Place 2020. The design should relate to both Cat Head Press and the Englewood Neighborhood. 

Designs should be no larger than 12” x 12”. The image will be printed in white on black t-shirts. For this reason the design should be relatively graphic in nature and easily transferable to one color printing. Once an artist is selected Cat Head Press may work further with the artist to hone the design if necessary. 

The selected artist will be paid a $250 artist fee for the design. The final design will become property of Cat Head Press. 

How to submit: Please send the following items to catheadpress@gmail.com

  • jpeg image of design. Minimum 180 dpi and 2000 x 2000 pixels
  • Your contact information. Name, email address, phone number.
  • A brief statement describing your inspiration and process for the design

Timeline:

May 25th - Deadline for submissions

June 1st- Notification of selected design

June 18th- Grand opening event. T-shirt printing. 

About Cat Head Press:

Cat Head Press is an Indianapolis based not-for-profit community center and fine art printmaking studio, located on the Near Eastside, Englewood neighborhood. Their primary mission is to enrich and increase the well-being of the community through investments in creativity and artistic expression.

They offer a creative maker-space for the experienced artist, novice learner, and all from the local community. Cat Head Press will serve as a hub to area artists by offering affordable studio rentals, and will, through community engagement, add cultural vibrancy via education and exhibition opportunities.

Cat Head Press provides area artists and the neighboring community a place to work, collaborate, and share ideas in a fully equipped facility space. They offer traditional fine art printmaking and drawing workshops, gallery space for exhibitions opportunities, art sales, and monthly First Friday events. A wide range of workshops will be offered including traditional Lithography, Screening Printing, and Life-Drawing.

Cat Head Press offers free community classes, monthly, weekly, and daily open studio time and yearly memberships.
