Reports to: Vice President of Development

 

Summary/Objective

The Director of Partnership Development serves as a critical development team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting corporate sponsors of the Center for the Performing Arts (Center) and the Great American Songbook Foundation (GASF). In concert with the Vice President of Development and the President/CEO, the Director of Partnership Development generates leads, creates customized sponsorship packages, and closes deals to generate revenue. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships locally and nationwide to build and expand the corporate sponsor portfolios of the Center for the Performing Arts and the Great American Songbook Foundation.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute sponsorship strategies to generate revenue upwards of $750,000 annually
  • Carry a portfolio of 40 sponsors and 60 high-capacity prospects
  • Serve as the primary salesperson for corporate sponsorships, and work in consultation with the Director of Development Strategy to identify prospects for the pipeline
  • Achieve sales goals for both the Center and GASF by creating compelling and engaging sponsor packages based on the objectives of the prospect
  • Retain and increase existing partnerships while replacing non-renewing sponsors through lead generation activities
  • Generate multi-year agreements and guide sponsors through contract negotiations to full execution
  • Demonstrate motivational and problem-solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the Center and GASF
  • Participate on the annual Gala committee, including securing corporate sponsors and assisting with related sponsor-benefit fulfillment and table sales
  • Manage and fulfill all sponsor agreements through the Donor Stewardship & Partner Fulfillment Manager
  • Schedule and coordinate the annual Sponsor Summit
  • Maintain the internal rate card so that sponsor benefits hierarchies are kept intact
  • Utilize Tessitura software to document communication with both sponsors and prospects
  • Participate in the annual budgeting cycle as a member of the development staff
  • Support other fundraising events as a key member of the team to execute said events

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, arts management, communications, marketing, or business preferred
Minimum of seven years in a previous fundraising development position or sponsorship sales
Minimum five years of demonstrated development success with polished pitching of proposals in five-, six- and (preferably) seven-figure corporate sponsorships
Previous experience using CRM and/or fundraising platform (i.e., Tessitura, Raiser’s Edge, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Adobe Professional, and other software applications necessary to perform essential job functions and support other team members

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibility for a small staff

 

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment that requires accountability for our core values, which include diversity and equity. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, etc.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. May lift up to 25 lb. on occasion/regularly.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as requested, including at performances and special events.

 

Travel

Local travel is expected for this position. National travel on an as needed basis.
