CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Concept:

“Driven forward by tradition. Racing toward the future while honoring our legacy.”

Activated: July 1st, 2021

Deadline to apply: Sept. 17, 2021

Introduction:

The Town of Speedway is presenting a great opportunity for a permanent outdoor art installation at the main entrance to the Speedway Municipal Center, or SMC.  Located at the site of the old PNC bank building, the just redeveloped building at the corner of Crawfordsville Rd and Lynhurst opened its doors to the public in April 2021. The SMC hosts the Town of Speedway’s police, school administration, town employees,  bi-monthly town council meetings, and a public art gallery with permanent pieces and rotating artworks for sale. Many blank spaces are available for a splash of culture and color that will highlight the progress the town has made toward an inclusive, defined, and prosperous municipality.

Artwork Technical  Requirements:

Art work space area is a  9’x 9’ vertical surface currently covered in white 1” square ceramic tile which can be removed for this project if desired. The space is covered by an extended roofline, but open to the elements from two sides, northern and western exposures.

The artwork may extend out of the surface within ADA compliance of the walkway. The art work must be all weather resistant as well as resistant to handling by people.  Longevity and minimal maintenance requirements are highly desirable.

Visit speedwayarts.org to apply.
