Upbringing theme pertains to the journey people endure while raising a child. Artists are invited to submit works inspired by their experiences of nurturing a child from conception to birth and beyond. Parenthood can be the most rewarding experience that can happen to us as human beings, but with that, comes natural troubles and tribulations. Interpretations of this theme can include many varying definitions such as foster care, adoption, losing a child, surrogacy, motherhood, fatherhood, and many more. Being a parent comes with moments of frustration, worry, confusion, and love. The truths of parenthood are not always spoken about or expressed. Raising a child can affect the individual both physically and mentally. This exhibition embodies the social stigmas, experiences, and realities of being a mother or raising a child. Alternative interpretations of this subject are welcome.
