Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition Seeks Artists to Produce Storefront Art Installations

Deadline: July 31, 2022 11:00pm
Budget: $1,000 - $2,500

Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition (UACC), in partnership with Shunpike, will produce storefront art installations and pop-up performances to activate COVID-impacted arts venues, businesses and vacant commercial spaces in the Uptown Arts District. Arts professionals similarly affected by the pandemic will design and execute the activations. Local businesses and commercial space managers will host the art installations and performances/activations.

There is NO application fee.

Visual-Art Proposals: Install artwork in empty or occupied storefronts/ businesses. Installations will be up for approximately 3 months.

Performance-Art Proposals: Artists to produce performance-based activations in empty or occupied storefronts/ businesses. These can be one-time or repeat occasions.

$1,000 for a 3 month visual installation

$2,000 for a 3 month installation and 1 one-time activation

$2,500 for an activation series

Proposals can be submitted by an individual artist or collective of artists, and encompass a Visual Art Component, a Performance Art component OR a combination of the two. For example: a 4 month installation of paper art in an empty storefront, with a monthly poetry reading every 4th Tuesday at the site, which is free and open to the public.

Eligibility
Content must be suitable for the general public. If programmatic content is not viewable from the street and ticketing is required for entry into that space, this may not be necessary.

All materials required for production of the activations are the responsibility of the artist or arts group.

One application per artist or arts group.

Youth are welcome to apply, but do need a person over 18 years of age to serve as their fiscal sponsor / co-applicant.
