Voices of the Wilderness Alaskan Artist in Residence Program

The U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service offer residencies of seven to nine days from June through August to artists of all mediums to take part in stewardship projects in the wilderness of Alaska. Residents will be partnered with rangers, and are provided with camping equipment, food, and travel to and from the field, but are responsible for their own transportation to and from Alaska.  Artists are expected to donate one piece of creative work to the hosting federal agency, and to give a public presentation within six months of the residency that in some way connects a community to its public lands.

Contact Program Coordinator Barbara Lydon at blydon@fs.fed.us or check out their website at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/votw to download the application.  Deadline for submissions is March 18, 2019.
