Vonnegut Exhibition Seeks Artwork

The newly constructed Phoenix Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, is currently accepting submissions from local, Indiana artists. The Phoenix Theatre would like to highlight Vonnegut-themed artwork in conjunction with the opening of the first show in their new space, located in their front entrance space and around the hallways. The play "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" is based on a Vonnegut novel. The artwork does not have to be about this specific book, however all entries should reference some aspect of Vonnegut or his work as chosen by the artist.  The reference to Vonnegut can be subtle and minimal and still be successful for this exhibition.

Please submit only two-dimensional artworks.

All work that is submitted will be juried and curated in time for their opening night, May 11th, 2018.

*Please note that The Phoenix Theatre will take a 25% commission on all artwork sold in the gallery.

Portfolio Submissions Accepted: April 4th - 30th

Artists Notified by: May 3rd.

Artwork Delivery: May 7th - 8th

Opening Night: May 11th

Artwork Requirements:

• All two-dimensional works must be no smaller than 4” x 4” and cannot exceed 48” x 48”,and cannot exceed the weight of 30 pounds.
• All works must be ready to hang or install upon arrival. Please ensure the work is completed with either D-Rings or Wire.

Submission Materials:

• Statement: Provide a brief, yet concise statement (20-word maximum) concerning your work and the Vonnegut theme seen within. This statement should be placed on the artist’s “Artwork List” Word Document (see below)
• Artwork Samples: (You may submit up to 5 digital images)
  • Please provide high-resolution JPG or PDF images no smaller than 3 x 4 inches. Electronic files only, no hard copies.
  • On each digital sample, please label the works accordingly: “LastName_01.jpg, LastName_02.jpg, etc.”
• Artwork List: Please provide a Word Document which includes the following:
  • Artist First & Last name, Statement, and a list of the works submitted (Labeled accordingly to the JPG/PDF images), Medium, Dimensions, Year and Price.
