Yelp Foundation Gives Local
About the contest:
The Yelp Foundation is giving back on a local level in a community near you. They know the best way to impact communities is to support the local organizations making a difference there every day. Yelp Foundation Gives Local (#YFGivesLocal) is a contest that encourages the public to vote for non-profits in their communities that support the Yelp Foundation’s mission of addressing the needs of local communities, including access to information, education, local economic development, and freedom of expression.
How do non-profits participate?
In order to participate in the Yelp Foundation Gives Local contest, non-profits must nominate themselves by August 31st, 2016. Based on submissions, the Yelp Foundation Board will choose three organizations (“Finalists”) in each of their US Markets to advance to the voting portion of the contest.
How will non-profits know if they are a Finalist?
Finalists will be notified the first week of October 2016. The list will be posted under the Vote section of their Website, along with the Yelp Gives Local Contest voting rules by Monday, October 17th, 2016. If you have not been notified and you do not see your Organization listed by this date, please assume your organization was not selected as a Finalist.
How does a non-profit win a grant?
Voting on the Finalists will decide which organization wins which grant. Cast your vote from Tuesday, November 29th (Giving Day), 2016 through Friday, December 9th, 2016. During this time, any individual may vote up to 1x per day, with a verified email address.

How much are the grants worth?
The Yelp Foundation will grant $5,000 to the organization with the most votes at the end of the campaign. The second and third place winners will be granted $3,000 and $2,000 respectively. In the event of a tie, the grants will be combined and the tying organizations will split the total amount evenly.
When will the the grant winners be announced?
The grant winners will be announced early 2017.
When should grant winners expect payment?
The grant winners should expect to receive their checks in early 2017. We will send payment to the address submitted in the Nomination form.
