1st Rehearsal for Children: Saturday Jan 14 & Sunday Jan 15, 2017
Full rehearsal begins on: Saturday Jan 21, 2017 (children will have limited rehearsal)
Show opens: Thursday, February 2, 2017
Show closes: Sunday, March 26, 2017
Preparation: Please prepare one song, not more than 24 bars in length. Select a song that demonstrates your voice, that you know well, and that you enjoy singing. Bring sheet music in the correct key. A piano accompanist will be provided (no cds or pre-recorded music ) Bring a current photo - a school picture or snapshot is fine (photos will not be returned.) Bring a brief resume detailing recent performing experience, if any (resume helpful but not required to audition). Children should dress comfortably (no fancy clothes, no make-up, no costumes. If cast, more information will be requested.
Callbacks: There may be a call back audition at the end of the day which likely will include dancing and movement. Following your child’s audition, you will be informed if they are asked to return for the call back audition. Please do not attend the call back audition unless asked.
Payment: Children cast in shows receive a small performance stipend and a limited number of complimentary tickets.
Availability: Those auditioning MUST be available for ALL rehearsals and ALL performances. Shows are not double cast, and roles do not have understudies. If offered a part, it will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that the child’s school is amenable to all missed school time.
For this show, there will be 3 choirs cast. Each choir will range in age, and consist of 6-8 members. Each choir will perform for approximately 2.5 weeks.
Rehearsal schedule: A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed no less than two weeks prior to the start of rehearsal. Every effort is made to ensure as little school missed as possible by calling children early for weekend rehearsals, and then calling them in later in the day, but some missed school will be unavoidable.
Young Performer Audition Day is Saturday October 22, 2016 only and by appointment only.
