Youth Auditions - A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream Auditions for Bard Fest
Under the direction of Dr. Kathy Phipps, the Agape Performing Arts Company has been invited to perform A Midsummer Night's Dream at Bard Fest this fall. They will do a full production of the show with twenty to thirty performers ages 8-21. Participation in A Midsummer Night's Dream will not interfere with casting for their December production of "The Promise." Also, performers in "Oliver" can audition because although you audition in June, they will not begin rehearsals until August.

General Auditions will be Friday, June 1 from 6:00 - 9:00 at Our Lady of the Greenwood Church, Upper Madonna Hall (335. S. Meridian. St. Greenwood, IN 46143). For General Auditions, please perform a one minute monologue from a Shakespearian play (preferably a comedy). The director would like to hear memorized monologues, but memorization is not required for General Auditions. Afterward performing their monologues, actors will be asked to do readings from the play.

Anyone who has a conflict with Friday, June 1 should submit a video audition of a one minute comedic Shakespearian monologue to indytheaterteacher@att.net by 5:00 pm on June 1.

Call Backs will be Saturday, June 2 from 10:00 - 3:00 at Our Lady of the Greenwood Church, Upper Madonna Hall .

There will be a read-through of the play on the evening of Sunday, June 3 (location TBA in Greenwood), then the cast will be sent home for the summer to memorize their lines.

Performances will be at the District Theater (formerly TOTS) in Indianapolis on the evenings of September 28, 29, October 5 and 6 as well as afternoon performances on September 30 and October 7. They will perform one or two Friday matinees at noon on September 28 and/or October 5. WThey will also perform an additional weekend at another venue the fourth weekend of October.

Performers will pay a $100 participation fee ($250 family maximum) to help pay for the numerous expenses of producing a Shakespearean play.

Performers over 17 will also have a background check and participate in the 45 minute on-line training, Safe and Sacred, that educates about detecting abuse.

They will rehearse beginning August 10 on Friday nights from 6:00 - 9:00 at Our Lady of the Greenwood Church and Saturday afternoons beginning August 11 from 1:00 - 4:00. Rehearsals will be August 10 and 11; 17 and 18; 24 and 25; 31 and September 1 (Labor Day weekend); September 7 and 8; 14 and 15; and 21 and 22.
