Open Audition for Indianapolis Ballet’s The Nutcracker to be Held Sunday, August 12
Dancers Ages 9-19 Invited to Audition for Roles in Indiana’s Grandest Staging of the Holiday Tradition at Old National Centre
Young dancers looking to be featured in Indiana's grandest staging of The Nutcracker alongside members of the Indianapolis Ballet professional company are invited to attend this year's open audition, taking place Sunday, August 12, from 12:00-5:00 p.m. at the Indianapolis Ballet studios, located at 502 N. Capitol Avenue, Suite B (2nd floor).
The audition is open to dancers ages 9-19, and interested dancers must turn the ages listed below by September 30. The audition schedule for August 12 is as follows:
12:00-1:00 p.m. – Warm-up classes (ages 13 and up)
1:15-2:00 p.m. – Ages 16 and up (ladies on pointe)
2:15-2:45 p.m. – Ages 13-15 (ladies on pointe)
3:00-3:45 p.m. – Ages 11-12
4:00-5:00 p.m. – Ages 9-10

Rehearsals for dancers in the production will be held on Saturdays beginning September 15. Production week will run from December 11-16, including evening rehearsals on Dec. 11 & 12 and five performances at Old National Centre between Dec. 13-16. Featured dancers and soloists may have additional weekday rehearsals
This December will mark the first official Nutcracker production under the banner of the Indianapolis Ballet professional company, which will continue the Indy tradition established by the Indianapolis School of Ballet across the previous 11 years. Since moving to the historic Murat Theatre at Old National Centre in 2016, the production has grown to include live orchestral accompaniment – and for the second straight year the 45-piece Indianapolis Ballet Orchestra will be on hand to bring Tchaikovsky’s popular holiday soundtrack to life.
