Exploring Cultural Memory Through Papel Picado by Beatriz Vasquez
Program Description
Bring master contemporary papercutting artist Beatriz Vasquez to your classroom to help your students learn cultural awareness skills through Papel Picado, a Mexican folk art! In this workshop students will safely and effectively learn diverse cut techniques and terminology, how to utilize cultural memory, and how art is used for activism.

Single Workshop: $90
Multiple Workshops: $80 each
Supplies: $30 per workshop

Standard 1 - History
Anchor Standard 1 – Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work: Creativity and innovative thinking are essential life skills that can be developed.
Anchor Standard 2 – Organize and develop artistic ideas and work: Artists and designers balance experimentation and safety, freedom and responsibility while developing and creating artworks.
Anchor Standard 7 – Perceive and analyze artistic work: Visual imagery influences understanding of and responses to the world.

Arts for Learning would very much like to discuss rescheduling, before cancelling. Partial payment may be necessary depending on when the decision to cancel is made.
