Join us on Saturday, June 15 from noon to 8pm for the 18th Annual Independent Music + Art Festival in Indy’s Old Northside neighborhood, highlighting the best independent local and regional musicians, visual artists, crafters, and food vendors.
In the courtyard of the historic Harrison Center, two stages feature continuous music throughout the day. Rusty Redenbacher returns as emcee of the music portion of the event. Saint Aubin Inside the building and surrounding the Harrison Center, over 100 vendors peddle their wares in the juried INDIEana Handicraft Exchange Summer Show. IHE is a contemporary craft fair that consciously celebrates modern handmade goods, the relationship between creator and consumer, and local, alternative economies. The IHE began in 2007 as a way to highlight local crafters and artisans as well as to expose Indianapolis to some of the best vendors on the national indie craft fair map.
Inside the Harrison Center, our galleries feature work by Benny Sanders, Derrick Carter, David M. Seward, Joseph Arens, Jeannette Pomeroy Parssi, Benaiah Cusack and Matt Kenyon. A variety of food trucks will provide delicious food options and Sun King Brewery and New Day Craft will serve locally produced beer and cider. ArtMix returns with their popular “Here’s the Scoop!” ice cream fundraiser. As part of the Harrison Center’s Cultural Entrepreneur Initiative, this year’s festival is coordinated by Herron High School senior, Donnie Smith. The Cultural Entrepreneur Initiative was created to give high school and college students the opportunity to learn and practice the five steps of cultural entrepreneurship: seeing a need, taking a risk, leveraging resources, investing energy and networking to build culture in Indianapolis. With support from: Circle City Apartments, Sun King Brewery, Plat Collective,the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the City of Indianapolis, Christel DeHaan Family Foundation, Indiana Arts Commission, the Speck Fund and Matinee Creative.
