The documentary film 1971 (2014) tells the story of the protesters and journalists who not only questioned why the American Dream was out of reach for many but who also exposed COINTELPRO, a secret FBI surveillance program that targeted Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Angela Davis, and others.
