A Montana Artists Utopia: Out West with the Women of Basin

Montana jazz artist MJ Williams left her small Montana town to find refuge with her partner on the west coast during the 1970s but returned later to create the Montana Artists Refuge. Guided in conversation by Gregory Hinton–creator and producer of Out WestTM, a national program series dedicated to LGBT history in the American West–hear MJ’s story of how she, her partner, and friends realized their dream of creating a safe haven for artists in a mountain mining town.
