An Evening with Carrie Newcomer

Songwriter, recording artist, performer, educator, and activist Carrie Newcomer comes to Second on Thursday, May 11, presenting a concert with pianist Gary Walters and Second’s own Sanctuary Choir under the direction of Dr. Michelle Louer. Newcomer has 19 nationally-released albums and three books of poetry and essays. Her song, “I Should’ve Known Better” appeared on Nickel Creek’s Grammy-winning gold album This Side, and she earned an Emmy for her PBS special An Evening with Carrie Newcomer. The Sanctuary Choir will join Carrie Newcomer for a specially commissioned arrangement of “Betty’s Diner.”
