On January 8, 2009, Izzy Ezagui, an American who had enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at 19, lost his left arm in a mortar attack. In Disarmed: Unconventional Wisdom from the World’s Only One-Armed Special Forces Sharpshooter, Ezagui recounts with stirring honesty and wry humor, his tortuous trek through rehabilitation to, yes, re-enlistment.
