Footlite Musicals will hold its annual Summer Children's Workshop for children ages 6 to 12 so they can experience a range of activities, from "how-to" mini workshops to what it takes to do a complete show. Footlite Musicals will hold its annual Summer Children's Workshop for children ages 6 to 12 so they can experience a range of activities, from "how-to" mini workshops to what it takes to do a complete show. The workshop culminates in a one-time final performance of the musical Into the Woods, Jr. to show off their new skills to family and friends, complete with costumes, make up, singing, and dancing.
The cost of the workshop is $150 per child. Children may register for the workshop before the first class on June 7, or on our website by clicking here. Into the Woods, Jr. is an adaptation of the Broadway musical by James Lapine, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Based on classic fairy tales, the musical centers on a baker and his wife who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the king's festival, and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.
The workshop will be under the direction of Scott Fleshood for four consecutive Saturdays, June 7, 14, 21 and 28, Saturday, July 12, and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 14, 15 and 16. Each Saturday session will last from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, with the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday sessions beginning at 9 a.m. The final performance will be Wednesday, July 16, at 6 p.m. This program has been restructured from year's past as a result of school calendar changes. All workshop sessions will be held at Footlite's annex facility at 1835 North New Jersey Street, directly behind Footlite's home, the Hedback Community Theater, 1847 North Alabama Street, Indianapolis, IN.
