Foundations of Drawing Intensive

This course is appropriate for students with no previous drawing experience as well as those with some experience. The class will focus on form rather than color—students will learn how to accurately convey the forms of various objects with charcoal and graphite. Students will learn how to convey dimensionality through various techniques. The scenery and objects around Artisan Acres Estate will form the majority of the subject matter of our drawings. Imagine studying foreshortening from within the Flower Tunnel, proportional measurement from beneath the Great Oak, or crisp architectural rendering while perched upon the Winding Wooded Path behind the Grand Little Barn. There is truly no other drawing camp like this!

For those enrolling in the Full Day option, afternoons will be devoted to the Exploratory Enrichment class in the air-conditioned Grand Little Barn or in shaded areas throughout the property. This allows students to gain exposure to a unique variety of art-aligned expressive media, whether culinary (e.g. lacto-fermentation), floral (e.g. arrangement), or physical (e.g. dance). This class will be taught by a rotating group of guest instructors.

At the conclusion of the two weeks, we will come together for a Gallery Reception in the Grand Little Barn, where family and friends are welcome to view our young artists’ creations as they enjoy refreshments on the beautiful property.
