Gregory Martin, piano
Gregory Martin presents a program devoted to the imaginative spaces, carefree days, and “blue, remembered hills” of childhood. Robert Schumann’s masterful Kinderszenen and evocative miniatures by John Ireland and Edvard Grieg find counterpoise in Johannes Brahms’ exuberant first sonata, one of the handful of pieces the 20-year old beardless composer presented to Schumann at their first meeting.
