Indianapolis Early Music Festival 2013

American’s longest continually running festival of baroque, medieval, and renaissance musicperformed on authentic instruments of the period. Founded in 1967. each concert is preceded by an informal chat and followed with the artists.

June 21 Chatham Baroque kicks off the Festival with Baroque Guitar and the theorbo in a lively program Il Tedesco della Tiorba:  The music of Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger

June 23 Julianne Baird and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra – Viva Vivaldi II sung by opera lovers favorite, soprano Julianne Baird.

June 28 Mr. Jones & the Engines of Destruction present a ballad opera based on the economy featuring soprano Nell Snaidas whose career includes recently working with Mel Brooks and Phantom of the Opera

June 30 Montreal’s ensemble LaNef with tenor Michael Slattery present Dowland in Dublin – a little bit of Irish Pub feel.

July 12 Wayward Sisters – Winners of the 2011 Early Music America/Naxos recording competition delight audiences everywhere

July 14  Flanders Recorder Quartet – the Rolls Royce of recorder consorts!
