INDIANAPOLIS SYMPHONIC CHOIR: STRAVINSKY SYMPHONY OF PSALMS & VAUGHAN WILLIAMS DONA NOBIS PACEM
Making its return to the Symphonic Choir’s season after more than 20 years, Igor Stravinsky’s setting of the Psalms is paired with texts from the Mass, the Bible and poetry by Walt Whitman in music by Ralph Vaughan Williams. From sweeping melodies, haunting musical idioms and vivid musical imagery, these two choral-orchestral masterworks are both timeless and as timely as at their debuts.
