Experience the rich tapestry of Indiana’s contributions to the world’s health, welfare, and cultural vibrancy, as this program unveils a captivating collection of over forty 16mm film clips from the Indiana University Libraries Moving Image Archive, including historic moments like the first Indy 500 in 1911, Oscar Robertson’s leadership of Crispus Attucks High School’s groundbreaking all-Black basketball team, glimpses into the lives of cultural icons like Kurt Vonnegut, and much more.

Using clips from over forty 16mm educational, promotional and home movies within Indiana University Libraries Moving Image Archive, this program features well-and lesser-known people, places and events which make the “Hoosier State” unique. Footage includes the very first Indianapolis Motor Speedway 500-mile 1911 race, Oscar Robertson leading Indy’s Crispus Attucks as the first all-black high school sports team in the U.S. to win a state championship, Kurt Vonnegut at home, behind the scenes inside Gary’s steel mills and much more.
